Hayden Finley represents state on Youth Leadership Council

Claiborne Electric Youth Tour delegate Hayden Finley was selected among his peers to represent Louisiana as a member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Youth Leadership Council (YLC).

The purpose of the YLC is to build leadership and public speaking skills and to enhance the student’s knowledge of the energy industry and the cooperative form of business. Finley also delivered a presentation at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives in Baton Rouge on July 23.

The topic was reflections on his Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C. Finley and his fellow YLC delegates representing various states will play an important role during NRECA’s Annual Meeting in Orlando next spring. Not only will the YLC members recognized on national stage, they will gain hands-on experience with virtually every facet of the meeting including the resolutions process and helping cooperative members communicate with their legislators.

EmmaLee Tingle, communications and marketing specialist at Claiborne Electric, said of Finley, “Youth Leadership Council members gain more poise and confidence and emerge as a more developed leader with a strong determination to improve our community and make our country a better place. We’re excited about this opportunity for Hayden to experience personal growth as well as build life-long friendships with other student leaders from across the country.”
