Job Title: CLASS A LINEMAN

Position Location: Homer Office
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Applicant must have five years of progressively responsible experience in performing electrical line work, two years of which shall be in service as a Class B Lineman or its equivalent.
- Must be able to learn and apply information from technical manuals in the completion of duties.
- Must be able to complete reports and other paperwork and should be able to perform mathematical calculations.
- Must be familiar with the National Electrical Safety Code and RUS Construction/Materials Specifications utilized in the construction and maintenance of underground and overhead distribution lines and substations.
- Must know and practice first aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. Successful completion of all training modules of the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives Lineman Training Program or an equivalent apprenticeship program is required.
- Applicants must be able to operate assigned equipment including buckets, digger trucks, dozers, forklifts, backhoes, trenchers, winches, drills, chainsaws, and high compression tools.
- Position requires climbing and standing in hydraulic bucket to work at heights installing transformers or line equipment, often working in awkward positions.
WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Some overtime may be required.
- Frequently moves and/or carries materials and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds.
- Shovels dirt, works around noisy equipment and visually inspects work for safe work conditions.
- Occasionally works with energized lines.
- Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and other seasonal weather events.
LICENSING & TESTING REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class A Louisiana Commercial Driver’s License.
- Must be able to perform a pole top rescue as well as a bucket rescue.
- Must be able to complete the duties as described in the position description.
- After an offer of employment has been made, a physical is required which may include both drug and alcohol testing.

Job Title: System Operator
Location: Homer Office
Position Summary
Serves members by helping deliver continuous and reliable electric service to the Cooperative’s members by providing communication between operations, on-call crews, member services and billing and payment personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Ensures that he and other System Operators are serving the needs of the members by providing the services requested, answering questions, offering assistance, and managing on-call crew assignments for all outage events.
• May be required to monitor the Cooperative’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.
• Accomplish departmental goals by contributing to the development of an efficient work schedule as well as defining equipment and training needs.
• Communicates required information by completing required paperwork, e.g. timesheets, outage logs, reports, etc.
• Assists members by accurately assigning service requests to field personnel.
• Contributes to organizational efficiency by updating and maintaining records through the Cooperative’s electronic vault and by other means.
• Helps others by performing other duties as requested.

Education and Experience
• High School Diploma is required.
• Previous experience as an electric utility system operator is desirable.
• This position requires knowledge of system geography.
• Must be able to operate Claiborne Electric Cooperative’s computer systems.
• This position requires a variety of mathematical calculations and completes various statistical reports.
• Knowledge of Claiborne Electric’s billing and collection policies must be acquired within a reasonable time span.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Computer terminals, calculators and other standard office equipment are utilized in the completion of duties.
• The employee must be able to carry out a wide variety of activities which require a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
• Works rotating day and night shifts following a “Pitman” scheduling model.
• May be required to work irregular hours during extreme storm events.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

SYSTEM ENGINEER (Entry Level)

The System Engineer supports the planning, analysis, and operation of the electric cooperative’s transmission and distribution system. This entry-level position is designed for recent graduates and provides hands-on training in electric utility engineering, including distribution and/or transmission systems. The System Engineer works under the guidance of experienced engineers to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient electric service to cooperative members.

• Assist with planning and analysis of electric distribution and/or transmission systems.
• Support system modeling, load analysis, and system reliability studies.
• Assist in the design and review of system improvements and expansions.
• Collect, analyze, and maintain system data and engineering records.
• Support field engineering activities, including site visits and inspections.
• Assist with outage analysis and system performance reporting.
• Coordinate with operations, construction, and member services personnel.
• Ensure compliance with cooperative standards, safety policies, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in training programs and professional development activities.

• Must possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
• Must be able to complete all activities described in the position description with continued growth into an experienced Engineer.
• Random required alcohol and drug testing will be conducted during employment.
