Claiborne Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a Manager of Engineering. This position will be responsible for the design, development, testing, coordination, and maintenance of the Cooperative’s electric plant. The chosen candidate will be responsible for ensuring that power is provided in a safe, efficient, and economical manner. Candidates should be able to evaluate electrical loading and reliability on the electric distribution system to provide system maintenance and expansion that maximizes safety and service reliability for new and existing residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Job duties will involve participation in the review of distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission outage events. This will include researching outage information, identifying specific outage patterns and problems, and completing follow-up activities associated with the investigation, mitigation or prevention of outages on the electric distribution system. as well as involvement in the resolution of less complex power quality issues.
Candidates must be able to perform all engineering related functions as required, according to applicable policies, procedures, and standards.

Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent knowledge obtained through significant experience in distribution utility operations
- Ability to apply engineering theory in the design, construction, and operation of electric distribution lines, transmission lines, and substations.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code, RUS Materials, and Claiborne Electric Cooperative’s engineering policies and practices
- Ability to perform voltage drop analysis, fault current analysis, transformer sizing, conductor sizing, conduit sizing, sag and tension clearances, proper voltages, service type, meter types, and system coordination
- Familiarity with Advanced Metering Infrastructure and system-modeling software packages
- Ability to serve as the Cooperative’s point of contact for federal and state reliability requirements and programs.
- Ability to operate computer terminals and personal computers.
- Possession of a valid Louisiana driver’s license is required
- Ability to perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description
- Ability to accurately prepare a variety of reports
- Ability to assist in preparing RFP and bid packages for construction and maintenance services
- Ability to walk for extended periods, climb, carry up to 50 pounds, and work in awkward positions (standing, kneeling, etc.)
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
This position requires office and field work. Some irregular hours may be required during emergency situations.
After an offer of employment has been made, a physical is required which may include both drug and alcohol testing.
